Mariamma Had a Little Goat

Urged by millions of requests yesterday night, in my dreams, I thought I would share with the world and the Martians another adaptation. This one called "Mary had a Little Lamb" was originally written by Sara Josepha Hale, and though her name rhymes with Sharada Kittappa Vel, there was nothing Indian in this poor poem. So, we were given the task of adapting it to suit fertile South Indian minds. And to suit children as well.

Mariamma Had a Little Goat
Mariamma had a little goat,
A little goat, a little goat,
Mariamma had a little goat,
Whose teeth were white as snow.

And everywhere that Mariamma went,
Mariamma went, Mariamma went,
And everywhere that Mariamma went,
The goat was sure to go.

It followed her to the butcher one day,
The bucher one day, the butcher one day,
It followed her to the butcher one day,
Which was not so bright.

This made the goats in cages stomp & cry,
Stomp and cry, stomp and cry,
This made the goats in cages stomp & cry,
They were quite pissed off you know.

The butcher took one look at it's teeth,
One look at it's teeth, one look at it's teeth,
The butcher took one look at it's teeth,
And offered Mariamma some dough.

It took Mariamma ten seconds,
Ten seconds, ten seconds,
It took Mariamma ten seconds,
To accept the butcher's sum.

The other goats said you stupid little goat,
You stupid little goat, you stupid little goat,
The other goats said you stupid little goat,
Now look you're mutton chow.

MORAL: If you eat what loves you, you may get paid for it.
